Women Working in Hanyang

The Seoul Museum of History is hosting at Exhibition Hall A "Women Working in Hanyang," an exhibition highlighting the work and life of women in Hanyang, the capital of the Joseon Dynasty and former name of Seoul.

Women from all walks of life from the queen to doctors at Joseon's medical authority Hyeminseo worked in and out of the capital's walls during the Joseon Dynasty, contributing to national development. This exhibition vividly presents how such women transformed Hanyang into a more vibrant city through commercial and religious activities and housework.

The museum's purpose is introduction of the capital's long history and traditions to provide a valuable experience in Seoul for both Korean and foreign visitors.
