This exhibition shows traditional maedeup (decorative knotting) works created and donated by Lee Bu-ja, a student of Kim Hee-jin (1934–2021), a master artisan of this craft, which is designated National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 22.
Maedeup is created by knotting thread and strings and tying and tightening them all by hand. It was often used by the royal court as well as household items like clothing, accessories and furniture and objects for rituals.
