It's that time of year again in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do Province, a city famous for its clean water and mud-based cosmetics. The annual mud festival here, one of Korea's most popular international events, has begun its ten-day run.
The mud in the region contains high levels of germanium, minerals and bentonite, and several think tanks in the country have confirmed the mud's beneficial effects on skin.
Among the myriad of events and activities available are swimming, mud throwing and massages with mud powder.
