This year is the 20th Daegwallyeong Snow Festival, one of Gangwon-do province’s most popular winter festivals. Taking place for nine days from January 13 to 21, this festival will feature an ice sculpture exhibition in the main event hall and a variety of hands-on programs.
There will be a large variety of attractions, including 25 meter long snow tunnel and around 2,000 snowmen. Visitors can also visit a sheep ranch in a nearby village, enjoy many leisure sports, and try out the traditional method of roasting Pollack.
In addition, visitors to the festival can participate in exciting activities such as the ‘topless marathon tournament’, a hiking competition, and riding the snow mobile train. Traditional sledigh riding on snow, snow rafting, and ‘the igloo experience’ will make sure visitors really get the most out of this winter season.
