The 2022 World Heritage Festival: Gyeongsangbuk-do, Andong and Yeongju from Sept. 3-25 is being hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration and the governments of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Andong and Yeongju under the organization of the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation and World Foundation for Confucian Culture. The event's six venues are Hahoe Folk Village, the Confucian academies of Dosanseowon, Byeongsanseowon and Sosuseowon, and the Buddhist temples of Bongjeongsa and Buseoksa.
The festival will feature many performances, exhibitions and interactive programs. Hahoe Folk village will host Seonyujulbullori, a traditional fireworks display that scholars there enjoyed after a poetry session with drinks on a midsummer night. Byeongsanseowon will host performances on Sept. 17, 18, 24 and 25 to mark the historical value of the Confucian academy and the achievements of Confucian scholar and government official Ryu Seong-ryong (pen name Seoae).
