Since topokki has been gaining popularity among people from various backgrounds, the exhibition is planned to introduce a variety of topokki recipes to satisfy global tastes. Last year’s festival treated visitors to diverse kinds of topokki made with different sauces. One of the featured recipes was the traditional royal style topokki (gungjung topokki) using soy sauce rather than the usual red pepper, enjoyed by kings in the Joseon Dynasty. Honey toppokki, kimchi toppoki, and curry/barbeque/steak toppoki were also represented to surprise visitors.
The World Toppoki and Rice Noodle Cooking Competition will provide an opportunity for creative cooks to invent new and various recipes to boost the industry. The competition is divided into two parts: one for students and one for adults. The first runner-up will receive a prize of one million won. The Children Cooking Festival will also be held as a side event.
