From Sept. 27 to Oct. 4, the 62nd Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival will be held across Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This event is a modern reinterpretation of the 1795 celebration held by Joseon Dynasty King Jeongjo for the 60th birthday of his mother, Queen Hyegyeong. Based on historical records, the diverse programs will include evening military training, a 60th birthday celebration, civil service exam and banquet for the elderly. King Jeongjo's Royal Parade will be held on Sept. 28.
