Hitting the main stage of the Seoul Drum Festival 2009 will be eight Korean teams and three international teams, who will perform under the theme Sounds of Communication. Puripae Troupe will open the show with a world premiere of their new work. The audience will then be entertained by teams from the United States, Taiwan, and Brazil. Closing the festival will be Choi Sori & Show Arirang Party. In addition to the main performances, there will be a percussion music extravaganza consisting of five percussion performances including a percussion parade by famous Korean and foreign percussionists, a national percussion contest, and a percussion marathon.
In addition to these programs, visitors are welcome at the “hands-on” zones where they can try playing marimbas (keyboard percussion instruments, xylophones), educational percussion and traditional instruments, samulnori musical instruments, as well as conventional drums. There will also be an exhibition of percussion instruments from all over the world, particularly focusing on instruments from Latin America.
