Jeongdongjin is located on the east shore of the Korean Peninsula. It has become a popular destination for greeting the sun on New Year’s Day, as the wildly popular drama “Sandglass” was filmed here in 1995. The Jeongdongjin Sunrise Festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and tickets for the special “Sunrise Train” to Jeongdongjin usually sell out months before New Year’s.
Scenic pine trees, the emerald-blue sea, majestic cliffs, a tranquil coast and rustic railways make Jeongdongjin one of the top tourist destinations in the country.
