The Jeju Fire Festival is held to pray for a good harvest and good
health in the new year. It replicates the ancient tradition of burning the dried
grass in a field to kill any harmful insects and to clear away the old grass before
a new planting season.
Other than the fire-related ceremonies, many outdoor activities are
offered to visitors, helping them to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings of
Jeju Island, such as horseback riding, trekking and flying kites.
Finally, Jeju’s traditional foods are sold at restaurants and
markets at the festival venue.
Come on down to Jeju to enjoy this year's Jeju Fire Festival~
