The yearly Lotus Lantern Festival will be held in Seoul the weekend before Buddha’s birthday, which is the eighth day of the fourth month by the lunar calendar.
Even if you're not Buddhist, there will still be plenty to do during the festival: make your own lotus lantern, sample some religious food, enjoy the lantern parade, and watch some traditional performances that are related to Buddhism. There will be all sorts of other family-oriented activities, too!
Colorful lanterns of many different shapes and sizes will adorn Jogyesa Temple, Bongeunsa Temple and Cheonggyecheon Stream, all located in central Seoul. They'll be on display until May 7, so don’t miss the terrific nightscape!
