Applications for the second semester of the four Sejong Institutes in Turkey, which the Korean Cultural Center in Turkey have started. △Bursa (March 15th to May 8th) △ Istanbul (March 15th to May 8th) △ Ankara (March 9th to May 1st ) △ Izmir (April 5th to June 5th ) The second semester courses will be held at the Language Institute of Ankara University (TOMER) and will be conducted online due to the COVID-19 situation.

The Sejong Institute courses consists of eight weeks in one semester and it offers various courses through the regular four semesters (Sejong Korean 1~8) and special semesters (Topik Exam Preparation Class, Business Korean Class, and Sejong Korean Conversation Class). The institute produces about 2,000 graduates a year.

In the case of Sejong Institute of the Cultural Center, the first semester of 2021 is currently in progress and it is receiving enthusiastic response, with 530 people applying for the Korean alphabet class of 20 people. The second semester of the Cultural Center is scheduled to begin in April.

Turkey has a high interest in Korean language education, with the adoption of Korean as a second foreign language subject in 2017. And the number of Korean language learners is steadily increasing due to the influence of the Korean Wave.

As a result, the Cultural Center has posted Korean alphabet and beginner Korean conversation online lectures on its YouTube channel to meet the individual learners’ needs. The online course currently has 47,000 views.

In addition, in order to expand the base of Korean language education in the future, the Cultural Center will make active efforts by requesting support from the Korean government to support the development of Korean textbooks for young learners, basic Korean language dictionaries in Turkish, and operation of Korean language teacher training courses.
