Consul General Won-sam Chang joined via video message three separate the Korean American Day online celebrations hosted by the Korean American Association of Greater New York (KAAGNY, President Charles Yoon), Korean American Association of New Jersey (KAANJ, President Han Ik Son), and Philadelphia City (Councilmember David Oh) on January 13, 2021.
In particular, Amb. Chang emphasized the need to reconstruct the old KAAGNY building at the KAAGNY event. “The KAAGNY Building serves as a symbol and the face of our community. We very much need a fitting place that reflects the community’s growing potential and influence,” he urged. He also noted that the community facility “will be a source of inspiration and pride for future generations and serve as a valuable asset of as well as a historical legacy for the community,” as he asked first and second-generation Korean Americans to work together for the reconstruction.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia City Council adopted a resolution welcoming the opening of the Consular Office of the Republic of Korea in Philadelphia on the occasion of the “Korean American Day.” The resolution was delivered to Consul General Won-sam Chang.
