Events at KCCs abroad

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Turkey held  “1st National Baduk Tournament” from April 24 to April 25 for the first time, and the final was held on May 23rd.

This event is jointly hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Turkey, the Korean Cultural Center in Turkey, and the Turkish Baduk Association. It was held for the first time with the purpose of promoting friendly relations between Korea and Turkey. However, the face-to-face event could not be held due to Turkey's COVID-19-related lockdown, but the tournament was held online.

In the congratulatory video, Ambassador Lee said, “All of you who participated in the Grand Cup National Student Baduk Tournament are the future of Turkish Go. Through this competition, I hope that you will develop your sports spirit beyond winning and losing, cheering you on to show off your best skills to your heart’s content.”

The online preliminaries were held from April 24th to April 25th, and about 60 elementary school students (under 12 years old) and middle school students (under 16 years old) participated in the preliminaries.
