The Ottawa Korean Film Festival (OKFF)
The Ottawa Korean Film Festival (OKFF) features an exciting lineup of films. The OKFF will showcase various films, including YOUN Yuh-Jung’s works, independent films and media artists’ works. With the aim to familiarize Canadians with diverse Korean films and to promote more interest in K-Cinema, we hope that more people will be able celebrate K-Cinema with OKFF.

From August 18th to 31st, the Korean Cultural Centre Canada is pleased to host Online K-Cinema Screenings of the <LADIES OF THE FOREST>(2016, KIM Cho-hee) and <LUCKY CHAN-SIL>(2019, KIM Cho-hee).
* The illegal copying and distribution of the films will be subject to legal consequences.
* Starting from 2021, KCC’s online screening will be via VIMEO platform.
* Please use the RSVP link on KCC in Canada website (https://kccincanada.com) to sign up and you will receive the link, PROMO CODE and viewing instruction to access the movie via email on Aug 17th.
* Once you active your code, you will have 48 hours to watch the movie.

LADIES OF THE FOREST (2016, KIM Cho-hee)

Soon-shim, a 70 year old bachelorette from a different planet, comes to Earth to find a lover. However, instead of discovering any men, she finds nothing but Dal-rae, whom is gleaning herbs all alone. Dal-rae identifies herself to Soon-shim’s passion which made her come all the way to Earth.
From that day on, Soon-shim and Dal-rae live together by gleaning herbs. One day, the two old bachelorettes save a deer from a hunter. To thank them, the Deer tells them he will make their wishes come true. They wish to find their lovers! Will the Deer make Soon-shim’s and Dal-rae’s wish come true?

After a sudden death of the director she worked with for a long time, a film producer Chan-sil is now unemployed. Jobless and moneyless, she begins to work as a cleaning lady at an actress’ place. By chance, she meets a young man who teaches French to the actress. Chan-sil is strongly attracted to him while her old anxieties begin to emerge; her already-gone-youth, screwed love, and broken career…

K-Cinema Celebration in Canada
July 1st - October 30th
From Thursday, July 1st to Saturday, October 30th, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Centre are pleased to host the ‘K-Cinema Celebration in Canada (KCC in Canada)’ in conjunction with Consulate Generals in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
In honour of YOUN Yuh-Jung, winner of the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ at Oscars for her role in Minari, this year’s festival will showcase various films highlighting her longstanding and distinguished career. In addition, the ‘K-Cinema Celebration in Canada’ will introduce diverse independent films and media artists’ works that were not easily accessible to Canadian audiences.
This year, the event will take place online due to COVID-19, making this year’s selection of Korean films available for streaming across Canada, in the safety and comfort of your homes.
