2021 KOREA WEEK: THE KOREAN EMBASSY AND KOREAN CULTURAL CENTRE LAUNCH <2021 KOREA WEEK> IN CELEBRATION OF CHUSEOK, THE KOREAN THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY, AS WELL AS THE NATIONAL FOUNDATION DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA
On the occasion of the biggest traditional holiday in Korea, Chuseok, and the National Foundation Day of Korea, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Centre are pleased to announce "2021 Korea Week," an annual festival offering a wide range of Korean cultural contents for the general public to enjoy, such as K-Cinema, K-Pop, live performances, K-Food and much more.
This year, the Korea Week will take place from September 20 to October 13, with a mixture of online and offline events.
*All our offline events will comply with provincial and federal COVID-19 regulations and last minute cancellations/changes are possible in accordance with government restrictions

1. The Ottawa Korean Film Festival (OKFF) : You are invited to: Cities of Korea

o Description: The Ottawa Korean Film Festival (OKFF) features an exciting lineup of films. The OKFF will showcase various films and media artists’ works featuring various images of cities across Korea. With the aim to familiarize Canadians with diverse Korean films and to promote more interest in K-Cinema, we hope that more people will be able to celebrate K-Cinema with OKFF.

2. The 2nd Korean Food Cook-Off in Canada

o Description: We will invite social media influencers to compete for the 2nd Korean Food Cook-Off in Canada. In partnership with the Korean Food Promotion Institute (KFPI), the 2021 Hansik Contest <The 2nd Korean Cook-Off in Canada> will bring together some of the most fascinating influencers to compete for the best Kimchi dish!

3. Ambassador's Cup Poomsae Championship

4. Spotted: Hangeul - Photo Contest

o Description: In celebration of the 575th Hangeul Day (October 9), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Centre are pleased to host a photo contest.

5. K-Food Sauce Contest

6. Strings Quartet & Korean Traditional Music Performance

7. Korean Modern Art: Daegu Scenery
o Date: Tuesday, Sept 28th ~ Friday, Dec.10th
o Venue: KCC Gallery
o Description: Inspired by Group of Seven, Canada’s most internationally acknowledged modern art movement, and its topical focus on nature and scenery, this exhibition presents 17 modern scenery paintings from Daegu Art Museum, with the works of three representative artists of Korean modern art: LEE Insung, SEO Dongjin, and JEON Seon Taek. It also includes five rare paintings, recently donated from Lee Kun-hee Collection. Running from September 28th to December 10th, the exhibition is expected to provide an opportunity to appreciate and learn about Korean Modern Art.

8. K-Pop Online Concert: Stella Jang

9. <The Magic Flute> Family Opera- Online Screening

o Description: We invite you to an online screening of Mozart's famous opera <The Magic Flute>, presented by the Seoul Arts Center. This performance is the 10th production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, and the very first Opera Theatre version.

10. Hangeul Day Celebration: Calligraphy

o Description: In celebration of the 575th Hangeul Day (October 9), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Centre will host a Korean calligraphy workshop. Join us to explore how Korea calligraphy has evolved throughout history and learn practical calligraphy skills from our special guest to write your favorite Korean word/sentence. 11. 2021 K-Pop Cover Dance Festival

o Description: We are pleased to co-host the 2021 K-Pop Cover Dance Festival (Canada Finals) with Seoul Shinmun at the Canadian Museum of History. Top 10 K-Pop teams moving up from the online preliminary round will compete for a chance to represent Canada at the final global round.
