Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center of Brussels has held a large number of commemorations over this year to celebrate the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Belgium. This special year will conclude with the concert ‘Nuit d’Etoile’ by the Korean soprano Sumi Jo, one of the most beloved sopranos in Korea and in the world.

The expression "voice of an angel" is rarely used in the same way as Sumi Jo. For 35 years, the South Korean soprano has enchanted her audience in the world with her flawless and heavenly voice.

On December 3rd, Sumi Jo will celebrate her anniversary in the Blauwe zaal of deSingel with her old music friend, Jeff Cohen who is an American pianist and film music composer.

The program combines arias and songs with a variety of epochs, languages and cultures, as well as instrumental pieces in which Sumi Jo expresses her personality. "On the stage, you have to give everything what you have.'', Jo assures. "It is not enough with only voice. You should give yourself and be authentic and open." She prepared Debussy's songs especially for the Belgian audience and she would like to enjoy the beautiful starry night of Antwerp with her guests.
