3 Slot Pencil Case Making (Monday, November 22, at 8 pm-Eastern Time)

Registration: https://forms.gle/pDGeZndnVQx3erKP9

To make a 3-slot pencil case, we will use Jeonji (剪紙) craft method, one of the most famous traditional hanji crafting skills. First, we make a frame by applying several layers of Korean hanji papers; coat it with various colored papers; cut and paste them with different patterns. Jeonji craft has been widely used among the commoners in Korea in its 5000-year history.

You can feel the beauty of various colors and patterns of Korean Hanji by pasting different layers of unique hanji papers on the skeleton of cylindrical compartments. You can use your final products to organize pencils, pens, or other small tools in real life.

3D Girl Doll Making (Tuesday, November 30, at 7 pm-Eastern Time)

Hanji doll is also called 'dak (mulberry tree in Korean) paper doll' because it takes raw materials from mulberry trees to make dolls. Initially, making a dak paper doll takes more than four months, as it is made by pasting each layer of pasted Korean paper once at a time.

However, you can make it within an hour in the class by using 3D printing technology. We will use a 3D-printed body part, considered the most challenging process in making hanji dolls. And then we will attach dak papers to clothes.

Then, dress up your 3D dak paper dolls with various colors of traditional Korean hanbok.
