In celebration of the 10th anniversary of its opening, the Korean Cultural Center in Turkey screened a video on the outer wall of the Galata Tower on the 16th.
For this day, the Korean Cultural Center worked hard for more than six months. This is the first time that the Turkish government has approved the outer wall of the Galata Tower as a video screening space abroad.
Kee-Houng Park, head of the Korean Cultural Center, said at the ceremony, "The entire Galata Tower has become a screen," adding, "I hope it will be a time to build memories of winter nights and feel the brotherhood of both Korea and Turkey."
The 10-minute video introduces the cooperative relationship between Korea and Turkey.
It also shows the performance of Turkish veterans during the Korean War and the 2002 World Cup when South Korea and the Turkish national team competed in good faith in the semifinals.
BTS, which leads the K-pop craze, and bibimbap, the symbol of globalization of Korean food, also catches the eyes of Istanbul citizens.
During the screening of the video, many Istanbul citizens took photos and videos with the Galata Tower reflecting Korea in the background.
