Korean lunch at the Congregation for the Clergy

On January 13, the Korean Cultural Centre to promote Korean Cuisine in Italy organized a Hansik-based lunch for about 40 members of the Congregation for the Clergy at the Vatican.

Packed lunches were composed including white rice, Doenjang-guk (fermented soy paste soup), Bulgogi (beef strips marinated in soy sauce), Kimbap (Korean roll), Gyeran-mari (Korean omelette roll), braised octopus, fried shrimp, Korean-style blanched spinach, Kimchi (fermented spicy Korean cabbage) and Sikhye (sweet Korean rice drink). In addition, brochures on major Korean restaurants in Rome and Seoul were made available.

Among the approximately 40 exponents at the lunch were present the prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy Archbishop Lazarus You Heung-sik, the Korean Ambassador to the Holy See Choo Kyu-ho and his wife and the Director of the Korean Cultural Centre Oh Choong-suk.

The lunch was significant since it was an absolute first time to have organized a Korean lunch at the Congregation for the Clergy and it was certainly another small step forward in making Korean Culture known in Italy.
