The Second American K-Pop Contest
With the cooperation of Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles and KBS America, the Second American K-Pop Contest was held on Friday, June 8th at the Zipper Concert Hall in Downtown Los Angeles. Total of 14 teams of 18 contestants competed for the tickets to Korea. This year, contestants’ level including singing skills and Korean pronunciation was greatly improved than from the contestants who performed last year. From an 8 year old girl to a young man in early 30’s, the range of the contestants’ age was wide. The winners of the contest were Angky Budiardjono and Arlene Budiardjono - both are siblings. They won 2 Asiana Air tickets to Korea and MusicBank, a Korean TV Music show program as their awards. They will also perform at the K-Pop World Festival as representatives of Los Angeles which will take place in ChangWon, Korea. 21 year old K-pop lover, John Lorigan who sung ‘Goodbye Baby’ by Miss A won the second place and Russell Argenal (23) and Joselyn Arciaga(20) took the third place.
