Events at KCCs abroad

From 24th February to 12th March 2022, the Gallery -1 at the Czapski Palace in Warsaw will host a presentation of works by students of the Faculty of Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and Paju Typography Institute (PaTI) entitled "Book, Space, Candy" inspired by the books of Stanisław Lem. The works were created as part of a Polish-Korean art project to mark the centenary of the birth of the Polish science fiction master.

Centenary of Stanisław Lem's birth

The exhibition "Book, Space, Candy" will feature 15 book projects created by 15 participants collaborating during the 2020-2021 academic year as part of an art project related to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Polish science fiction master Stanisław Lem. Lem's works, containing various metaphors and visual descriptions, became an inspiration for the collaboration of students from the Visual Communication and Typography Design Studio led by Artur Frankowski, PhD, at the Faculty of Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and students from the Paju Typography Institute (PaTI) under the direction of Lee Jae-Ok, director of Digital Media Lab.

Students's interpretations of Stanisław Lem's books

As part of joint classes, Korean and Polish students learned about the works of Stanislaw Lem than working in international tandems, created their own experimental books and artworks, which are creative interpretations of three of Lem's works: 'Solaris', 'Cyberiad' and 'The Tales of Pilot Pirx'. These original and often surprising works created by young designers and artists will be presented to the public in the Gallery -1 in Warsaw.

The first exhibition presenting the results of the collaboration took place in Seoul at whatreallymatters gallery (wrmatters.kr) located in Seokyo-dong, Mapo-gu from 25th October to 3rd October 2021.
