As part of the 'Korean Cultural Experience Program' project, the Korean Cultural Center will cooperate with the local distributor Tucker Film for 24 hours from 4:00 PM on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 to 4:00 PM on February 24 (Thursday). An online screening of Korean films was held through the website.
The Korean film that was screened that day was Peppermint Candy (with Italian subtitles, directed by Chang-dong Lee, starring Kyung-gu Sol, So-ri Moon, Yeo-jin Kim, released in 1999).
A total of 1,856 people from all over Italy watched this online movie screening, and it recorded the largest number of viewers among the online screenings of the Cultural Center.
Movie viewers showed a very positive reaction through Facebook and Instagram comments and emails at the Cultural Center, and some of them are introduced as follows.
- Pietro Liberati said, “It is a timeless, world-class masterpiece. Thank you for allowing me to watch it.”
- Anna Markuchi (Anna Markucci) said, "I am grateful for such an event that even people who live far away from Rome care."
- Annamaria Busoni said, “I really like Korean films that are screened at the Cultural Center. The Cultural Center is doing really well.”
In relation to the online screening of the movie <Peppermint Candy>, the number of views on the movie post page of the Cultural Center website recorded 16,836, which is more than 9,110 times compared to the movie <Burning>, which recorded the highest number of views in 2020.
As it was promoted in advance through the Cultural Center SNS, it recorded a high number of likes.
Five posts related to movie screenings posted on Facebook recorded a total of 1,615 likes and 101 comments.
The three posts related to the screening on Instagram received a great response, recording 2,118 likes and 43 comments.
This screening was also conducted through a limited disclosure method for KCCI Newsletter members, and 1,386 new KCCI members registered (only newsletter members provided with a password to watch the movie).
The Korean Cultural Center has been screening Korean films online every month, introducing Korean culture to local people through Korean films.
In December 2020, the online screening of director Lee Chang-dong's movie <Burning> recorded a higher number of viewers than the 1,599 people recorded.
