The Korean Cultural Centre SA (KCCSA), with the cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea's Defense Attache,
invited 2nd Generation family members of the Korean War participants to KCCSA on February 21, 2022
The family members of the Korean war participants visited the facilities in KCCSA that includes the exhibition halls,
Korean traditional crafts, K-pop related content and had a tour through the Korean-war memorial gallery that
represents the cooperation of friendship between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of South Africa and
honors the 826 South African participants that joined Korean War.
The Family members of the Korean War participants were finding the name of their fathers on the list of names of
war participants, and were also taking pictures of the Aircrafts in the exhibition. In addition to this, they looked through
the newsletter issued by the Korean War Veterans Association of South Africa, watched the Korean film "Gongjo"
and had Korean foods including Kimchi, Jabche, Kimbap, and Soojung-gwa.
Dirk Louw, the President of the Korean War Veterans Association of South Africa mentioned that "This is the only place
that has the lists of War participants of the Korean War in South Africa. That makes this place so special and I sincerely
show gratitude to KCCSA". In addition to this, LEE Byung-Chul, Defense Attache said “I hope more locals and Koreans visit here
and honor their noble sacrifice sincerely"
