YouTubers in South Korea with Canadian ties - Natasha Nguyen
YouTubers in South Korea with Canadian ties
Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! I am super excited to announce that I will be continuing as an honorary reporter for the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) for 2022, which means that you can expect more blog posts
(and even video contents) about different topics related to South Korea.
In the spirit of KCC’s mission to enhance Korea-Canada relations, I wanted the first article of 2022 to be about YouTubers that are currently living in Korea but also have ties to Canada. Make sure to check out the channels listed below to discover South Korea through different lenses!
1 – Channel name: Rachel레이첼
Name: Rachel Cha
Rachel moved to South Korea around September 2020 from Vancouver, BC where she was born and raised. She is a student at a Canadian university and also teaches English to both kids and adults.
Rachel showcases her daily life in Seoul through her vlogs. She also sometimes spices her vlogs up by focusing on one aspect of her life in a particular vlog (e.g., how she stays active throughout the week or showing us
her outfits for the week). She also does shopping-related content, such as shopping challenges where she sets a budget (e.g., $200) and shows the viewers everything she is able to buy with the budget.
Kate was born in South Korea, but grew up in Vancouver, BC. She moved to South Korea after graduating from NYU (New York University) in 2020. She currently works in the KPOP industry at SBS where she is mostly
responsible for social media management within the planning team.
Kate posts vlogs showcasing her daily life and also has a ‘Korea Travel Diaries’ series where she brings viewers on her travel adventures around South Korea. Her most popular content is her working in KPOP vlogs
where she shows the behind-the-scenes of working in the KPOP industry.
Based in Seoul, Kyuho and Sarah are an international couple. They have been together for over 10 years and have been married since late 2014. Kyuho is Korean but also lived abroad for many years including
in Kazakhstan, Russia and India. Sarah is Canadian and moved to South Korea in 2011 to teach English initially.
The couple started the ‘2hearts1seoul’ channel in 2015 as an interactive way to keep in touch with Sarah’s family in Canada. Their content consists of vlogs showcasing their daily life in Korea, but they also have great travel content and insightful couple/relationship Q&As.
This concludes today's blog post. Please let me know if you follow any other Canadian YouTubers living in South Korea. I’m always happy to discover new YouTubers!
