Korean Ambassador to Turkey, Lee Won-ik, Governer of Sanliurfa, Abdullah Erin and Harran district governor, Cihat Koc has attended the opening ceremony of "Seoul Middle School" in In Harran, Sanliurfa, Turkey.

Seoul Middle School was established as part of the Korean government's humanitarian support project to support Syrian refugees, with 257 Turkish and Syrian refugee students attending together.

The name of the school, Seoul Middle School, was finally selected after consultation between the Korean Embassy in Turkey and the Ministry of Education in Turkey, commemorating the establishment of Ankara School by Turkish veterans for Korean orphans 70 years ago.

There are 3.5 million Syrian refugees in Turkey, and the fourth largest number in Turkey, more than 450,000 Syrian refugees, live in the state of Sanliurfa, which borders Syria.

At the opening ceremony, Lee explained the special relationship between Korea and Turkey, including the Korean War and the 2002 World Cup, and encouraged students to study hard and contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
