On 24 March 2022, the Korean Cultural Centre SA initiated a Mother-of-Pearl Cultural Program.
This event was led by Miseon Shin through an online Zoom lecture.
After seeing beautifully displayed Mother-of-Pearl in the exhibition hall, participants seemed excited that they
could make Mother-of-Pearl by themselves. Participants were focusing on making their own spoon and chopsticks quietly.

They were impressed by the process of making their own spoon and chopsticks set and had questions such
as if they could find the items locally and how to use chopsticks.

One participant Andri Joubert commented “It was a unique cultural class and I’m glad to have this opportunity
with my mother. I’d love to participate in other upcoming cultural programs.”
KCCSA will continue hosting various cultural programs and constantly introduce Korean culture in South Africa.
