Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Florence Korea Film Fest
On April 7, 2022 (Thursday), the opening ceremony of the Florence Korea Film Fest, which celebrated its 20th anniversary, was held at the "La Compania" theater in Florence. The Florence Korea Film Fest is the first Korean film festival in Europe that consistently introduces Korean films and culture to Europe.
On the opening day of the opening ceremony, Director Jeon Ye-jin of the Korean Cultural Center in Italy expressed his gratitude for the interest and enthusiasm shown in Korean culture and Korean films to the Italian audience who attended the opening ceremony. She delivered a greeting (video) from Ambassador Lee Seong-ho of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
To make the 20th anniversary of the Florence Korea Film Fest even brighter, many distinguished guests from the Korean film industry came to Florence. Among them, director Hwang Dong-hyeok and actor Lee Jung-jae of the drama “Squid Game,” which caused a global sensation of Hallyu, and director Im Sang-soo and actor Jo Jin-woong took the place. Meanwhile, director Bong Joon-ho, who won four Oscars for the movie "Parasite" in 2020, was unable to attend in person, but said hello through a video for the 20th anniversary of the Florence Korea Film Fest.
In addition, Tuscany Governor Eugenio Giani and President Antonio Mazzeo attended the opening ceremony as representatives of local Italian organizations and delivered greetings. After the opening ceremony, a reception was held for invited guests to taste Korean food.
