Inauguration of the ARCOI "Drops in the Ocean" exhibition
The fifth exhibition of the Association of Korean Artists in Italy ARCOI was inaugurated on Friday 8 April at the Korean Cultural Center.
The Korean Cultural Center and ARCOI are at their fifth exhibition organized in cooperation and this edition's exhibition has been titled "Drops in the Ocean" to mean that individually all Korean artists active in Italy can appear as small drops of water, but together they can form a great ocean that can influence local art movements.
The exhibition is attended by 17 Korean ARCOI artists each with their own work for a total of 17 works exhibited in the "Exhibition Hall" on the first floor of the Korean Cultural Center from 8 April to 13 May.
About 110 visitors were present at the inauguration and following the opening greeting of the Director Chun Ye-jin of the Korean Cultural Center, there were greetings from H.E. Ambassador Lee Seong-ho and ARCOI President Joh Gyung Hee who also briefly presented the exhibition.
In his greeting, Ambassador Lee Seong-ho said that "the exhibition, the result of the union of various Korean artists from all over Italy, can become a blue and wonderful ocean in which all visitors can refresh themselves from all their efforts and all the weights of life".
While President Joh said that "If everyone remains still the world remains immobile and does not change, so the artists must move with their artistic activity. In particular, all the artists of ARCOI are committed to the future and are always getting closer to realize this future".
Elena, an Italian artist who visited the exhibition said "From the style and techniques used, we can see that these artists have studied and lived for a long time in Italy, but from the vision and message that the work wants to convey, the identity is perceived of the Korean artist".
Gianluca, another visitor to the exhibition, said "through their works the Korean artists of ARCOI artistically unite Korea and Italy. Through their work, Italian and Korean art came closer!"
The exhibition will be open to the public until May 13 and group visits from schools are scheduled on April 21 and 26 at the request of the Junior International Institute and the Liceo Artistico Via di Ripetta.
The Korean Cultural Center will also strive in the future to support Korean artists on the Italian territory so that they can act as an artistic-cultural bridge between Korea and Italy.
