Contemporary Dance Performance

June 29, 2022 / 20h30 @ LouvExpo (Rue Arthur Delaby, 7, 7100 La Louvière)

Miin (미인) is a Korean word meaning ‘beautiful person’, but is more often used as a synonym for ‘beautiful woman’. This piece challenges the modern preconception of an ideal women and the cultural and social expectations towards feminine gender roles. It raises a question about what we should think and feel about the word ‘woman’ and explores the cultural, sociological values surrounding females, from misogyny to singledom.

"MIIN - BODY TO BODY" expresses the freedom to embrace our bodies as they are, allowing us to be free from monolithic beauty standards, accept diversity in bodies and change our notions of beauty. This piece explores the idea that woman who are able to overcome or set-aside unrealistic expectations for herself ultimately becomes a stronger and happier individual
