The music of Korean composer Jung Jae-il who has been chosen by Film Fest Gent to grace its campaign image for its 49th edition, will be performed live together with Jo Yeong-wook’s music by the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé, at the Korean Composers Concert.
Korean cinema and all it entails will be put in the spotlight during the 49th edition of the Belgian film festival with Jung Jae-il gracing its main campaign image.
This decision was taken to underline the art of composing and the importance of film in music.
Jung Jae-il has previously collaborated with Korean director Bong Joon-ho for Okja, which competed for the Golden Palm, and Parasite, the first non-English language film to win the Oscar for best picture. Jung also composed the music for Broker which was directed by arthouse favorite Hirokazu Kore-eda and the Netflix series Squid Game.
The music he wrote for the Oscar-winning film Parasite and the wildly popular Netflix series Squid Game will, together with Jo Yeong-wook’s music (Oldboy, The Handmaiden), be performed at the concert.
The Korean Composers Concert will take place on October 20, 2022.
