Kim Hee-Jung is a graduate of the Lodz Film School.
She was selected for the Cannes Film Festival's La Residence du Festival in order to complete the script for the film "The Wonderful Years (2007)".
She then returned to Korea, where the film had its debut.
Her next film, Grape Candy (2011), which deals with the scars of memory, won the PITCH & CATCH award at the Seoul International Film Festival.
Another acclaimed work is Snow Paths (2015), winner of the Jeonju Cinema Award at the Jeonju International Film Festival's Jeonju Cinema Project(JCP). The film depicts the journey of an alcoholic trying to stay sober with the help of a nun with whom he shares a deep mental bond.
In 2016, Kim won the APM KOCCA award for her screenplay A Frenchwoman (2019).
The film shows the main character's delusional time until she is forced to face reality.
The film had its nationwide premiere in Korea in 2020, and won awards for cinematography and acting at the Wild Flower Film Awards in 2021.
