To Seoul or away!

The choice between a few days in Seoul or a few days some place new – a tough choice SeoulTheJourney would argue!

Seoulthejourney offers countless ideas for a lovely day in Seoul – check out this blog for one of our favourites here or take a chance on Jinju — take a train to Busan to add some more magic to the journey!

Korean Air by Simon Williams-Im

SeoulTheJourney is enamoured with the great city of Seoul.

Yet, we would argue that if you have the chance to explore the rest of South Korea – yes, you should certainly jump at the opportunity. The lucky thing about South Korea is travel is super easy due to a wide range of options – Bus, Motorbikes and Walking (not to forget the fantastic train!).

Let’s start with an easy short hop with a Korean Air flight from Gimpo Airport (take the Arex for speed and comfort or the regular metro) and head to Sacheon Airport – the small and cute airport!

Sacheon Airport

Sacheon Airport serves as the airport for the beautiful city of Jinju (I would call it the city that reminds me of Fukuoka).

On arrival at Sacheon Airport, the first thing you will notice is that it is a small terminal. Founded in 1977 – the runway is shared with the Korean military.

HIN (Sacheon Airport) severs Jin Air (codesharing with Korean Air) and Hi Air.

For folks planning to head to the island of Jeju you should note that you can take a flight from Sacehon across to Jeju!

Jinju

Jinju is one of the smaller cities in South Korea, one of it’s charms. The city has a long history which is well over 1,000 year old, that are marked well by art and culture.

For food, SeoultheJourney would recommend taking your time to explore the local restaurants and coffee culture that is pretty vibrant. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile knowing that there is a popular local dish called the Jinju Bibimbap (it is not for the vegetarian as it comes with raw beef).

Below, some snaps around town!

Take the opportunity, whether it be a a short day trip or a couple of nights in the city, to explore all parts of the city.

Seoulthejourney would recommend a visit to the beautiful Gyeongsang National University Campus.

Key places to visit:

Jinjuseong Fortress

A must-visit is the Jinjuseong Fortress and one that certainly deserves a visit during the day and the evening.

The Fortress, like the city of Jinju, carries so much history. It was one of the locations of a battles during the invasion by the Japanese.

Lotte Mall – Jinju

SeoultheJourney would recommend checking into your hotel and heading to the mall. As no doubt that you headed out from the busy city to slow down the pace and to relax.

Take time to enjoy the mall and grab a lovely lunch or dinner before an evening stroll arund the city.

There is a CGV cinema so you could certainly catch a film!

But, we would suggest heading across the road to enjoy the beautiful park. If your timing is perfect – you can enjoy the sunset on the waterfront!

Location:

440 Dongjin-ro, Jinju-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea

For another treat, we want to suggest the lovely 두스두스 coffee shop on the southern side of the city and will allow you to enjoy a morning stroll.

Location: Gyeongsangnam-do, Jinju-si, Gangbyeon-gil 20beon-gil, 20 1층

Take the chance to walk across to the pretty Seokryu Park.

Location: 산88-7 Gajwa-dong, Jinju-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea

Dinner at Agra

SeoultheJourney wants to close with a suggestion of a delicious Indian meal at Agra (depending on your hotel, it might be worth taking a taxi!).

Location: 916 Pyeonggeo-dong, Jinju-si, Gye
