Events at KCCs abroad

On Tuesday, 30 August 2022, the Korean Cultural Centre invited 20 college students, as part of the Korea-South Africa Youth Camp program to the centre. The students had a tour of the facilities such as the Cultural Centre’s Exhibition Hall, Sarangbang, and Library. They also had an opportunity to learn K-pop dance, Taekwondo and partake in a Korean food class.

Students viewed traditional crafts in the exhibition hall of the Cultural Centre and experienced wearing hanbok in the Sarangbang.

Students spent time in the Korean cooking studio of the Cultural Centre making gimbap, tteokbokki, and bulgogi. The South African students were excited to make Korean food that they had only seen in Korean dramas.

After experiencing Korean food, students went to the K-Pop and Taekwondo Studio to experience Yutnori, a traditional Korean game. The students also experienced K-pop dance under the guidance of Kat, K-pop Academy instructor of the Cultural Centre, and from Lesogo, Taekwondo instructor at the Cultural Centre, they had time to learn Taekwondo Poomsae.

In the future, the Korean Cultural Center in South Africa will continue to hold various Korean Wave cultural events to raise interest in Korea and promote its image.
