The Korean Cultural Center in Turkiye (Director: Keehoung Park) held an event to commemorate the 11th Anniversary of the Opening of the Korean Cultural Center from October 22 (Saturday).
About 200 people including 100 Hallyu fans, who were selected through pre-registration, cultural center performance troupe, cultural center instructors and others attended the event.
The event began with a viewing of a promotional video that made a video of the activities of the Korean Cultural Center for the past two years. The students at the Cultural Center successfully performed traditional dance performances such as Onara and Ganggangsullae as well as exciting Samulnori performances, and the hanbok fashion show prepared by the Turkiye Hallyu fans was well received by the participants. Then, the Stray Kids and BTS cover dance stages of ‘FL4C’, the 3rd prize winning team at the 2022 K-POP Cover Dance Festival, followed, and the Taekwondo class at the Korean Cultural Center successfully decorated the finale with Taekwondo demonstrations.
Hallyu fan İpek Nisa Yılmaz (20 years old) said, “It was a very good event, and it was a great opportunity to learn a lot about Korea, especially for those who are just starting to learn Korean culture... The Korean traditional dance stage they performed made a great impression on me.”
Erkan Tarhan, Deputy Director of Arts, said, “This event was a good opportunity to experience various Korean cultures such as traditional music, traditional clothes, taekwondo, food, beauty, and K-pop in one place. At first, I did not expect much because it was a performance by the students of the Korean Cultural Center, but I was very surprised to see the level of the students performing.”
In his welcoming speech, President Park Keehoung said, “With the belief that ‘the most Korean is the most global’, the Cultural Center is striving to continuously spread the Korean Wave in Turkiye by merging the uniqueness of Korean culture with the universality of the world and connecting it with contents and stories. Based on communication and empathy through culture and art, I hope that the two countries will continue to engage in closer and stronger exchanges and cooperation in all fields, including economy, society and culture, beyond the blood brotherhood relationship.”
