On realizing a visit to Seoul was on the books for SeoulTheJourney, it was clear that the first must-visit and bucket-list required location would be the land that had been closed to the public for only 110 years.
The current newest park in Seoul sits slam in the centre of the city of Seoul, known for the best of the city’s galleries and Gwanghwamun.
The newest park was closed since the Japanese colonial era that spans over 37,117 square m of land. (Which is around three times the size of Seoul Plaza, into a public and green rest area called Open Songhyeon Green Plaza.

Of course, there is a long list of activities in this area that must include exploring the numerous museums, galleries and of course palaces. Be sure to check out the changing of the guard/guard ceremonies at the palaces. A note for art lovers, galleries are shut on Mondays!
For times visit here.

The new Gwangwhamun Plaza has had a magical impact on the plaza. Take the time to explore the area and check out the numerous water shows.
Take a look at our first visit to the plaza.

For the first-timer visit to Seoul and South Korea, SeoultheJourney does want to step back to the start of the adventure in Korea. Visitors to Korea must remember that a K-ETA is essential to visit Korea.
On the journey to Korea from Canada, numerous passengers arrived at the airport and left crying because their journey wasn’t possible. The worst experience was seeing a family of four just about to board in front of us, the lady requested proof of the K-ETA and they didn’t know that it was needed. The family’s opportunity to board was rejected. They weren’t able to get the response from K-ETA on time.
Much like the United States, Canada and the European Union, it is a requirement to have a certain form of visa even for countries on a visa waiver.
We recommend you check with your local Korean embassy and visit K-ETA. Don’t make the common mistake.
We suggest downloading the app to your phone.
