From 24 to 26 October the Korean Cultural Centre in Italy organized the screening of 3 Korean films for 3 days at The Space Moderno cinema.

Interest in Korean films is increasingly growing in Italy, but it is still not easy to see Korean films distributed in Italian cinemas, so we have chosen to give the opportunity to see 3 authoritative Korean films in an Italian cinema.

On Monday 24 October "Beasts Clawing at Straws", a 2020 film by debut director Kim Yong-hoon, was screened, on Tuesday 25 October "Escape from Mogadishu" by Ryoo Seung-wan released in 2021 and finally on Wednesday 26 October it was the turn of "Decision to Leave "film released this year by the famous Korean director Park Chan-wook. Furthermore, all the films were screened in the original language with Italian subtitles to bring the authentic original work to the Italian public.

"Beasts Clawing at Straws" distributed in Italy on September 15th by Officine UBU was also previewed to the press in collaboration with the Institute at Anica already on July 27th. "Escape from Mogadishu", on the other hand, were presented in Italy through the Far East Film Fest in Udine and the Florence Korea Film Fest and this was the occasion to present it to the public for the first time in an Italian room with an interesting appearance by the Italian Embassy in the movie plot. Finally, the absolute first time in Italy of Park Chan-wook's film "Decision to Leave" awarded at Cannes with the best direction and will be distributed by Lucky Red in Italy around February 2023.

Furthermore, this day the KCC turned 6 years after its inauguration and the Director of the KCC Chun Ye Jin wanted to thank all those present before the beginning of the film by taking the opportunity to present other activities of the Institute and hoping that the public Italian can continue to be interested in Korea and Korean Culture.

In the 3 days of screening of the 3 Korean films, a total of 518 people came with special guests invited by the Institute and the Embassy for the film Decision to Leave.

The bookings were already sold out in 3 days from the opening of the bookings with 930 total booked. With the Park Chan-wook film that aroused the interest of the public the most.

All in the films, however, were received in a very positive way by the audience who wanted to pay homage to all the films with a big applause at the end of each screening and in particular Decision to Leave garnered the most thunderous applause. Leonardo C. L. documentary maker present at the screening commented “12 years ago I made a documentary on Korean directors (Through Korean Cinema). At that time it was difficult to find material on Korea. Now the artistic level of Korean Cinema is recognized all over the world and not only by specialists but also by the general public and I am happy for this. All the people who flocked to this screening organized by the Institute is yet another proof of the increased popularity of Korean Cinema. "Instead the spectator Eleonora C. said," it was nice to see a Korean film in an Italian cinema. all very beautiful films! ".

The staff of The Space Cinema Moderno was also satisfied with the success of the event, in particular the manager Veronica S. B. commented by saying "We have already seen the interest in Korea when we had proposed the screening of the BTS concert. We are happy that our cinema has once again been able to host an event on Korea and Korean Cinema. "
