The Korean Cultural Center (Director: Park Keehoung) successfully held the 2022 Jazz Korea Festival 'SB Circle' in two cities in Turkiye, Istanbul (Akbank Art Center, 11.17) and Ankara (Çankaya Sahne, 11.19).

This performance was based on jazz, but added the oriental melody of the gayageum to give the audience time to feel the unique charm and fun. In particular, the tones of the gayageum and saxophone seemed to freely walk a tightrope between the Korean rhythm and the rhythm of jazz, and yet the base of the bass and drums which silently played their role impressively harmonized, creating a crucible of emotion, joy, and enthusiasm.

Park Keehoung, director of the Korean Cultural Center, said, “SB Circle, a jazz Korean traditional music crossover band, was invited from Korea to this Jazz Korea Festival. At the Korean Cultural Center, with the belief that ‘The most Korean is the most global’, we are making efforts to continuously spread the Korean Wave in Turkiye by combining Korean cultural specificity with global universality and connecting it with contents and stories.”
