Events at KCCs abroad

Korean Cultural Centre India announced the commencement of Korean martial art, Taekwondo classes at Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) university. On 21st November 2022, Monday, an MoU was signed between the Korean Cultural Centre India and Jamia Milia Islamia to conduct Taekwondo classes in the university, and there was the 1st class held on 23rd Nov, Wednesday at JMI campus making JMI the 1st national university in India to do so.


Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art with the history of almost 2,000 years and is currently being practiced in 211 countries around the world. It was adopted as an official Olympic sport in 2000. India also won a total of 26 medals at 2019 South Asian Games, including nine gold medals.

           

Korean Cultural Centre India has already been conducting Taekwondo classes for over 1,350 students in 20 schools all over India. The introduction of Taekwondo classes at university, higher education level is a step taken towards Korean Cultural Centre India’s commitment to introduce Korean culture in an extensive and systematic manner. To continue this momentum, Korean Cultural Centre India plans to expand and introduce more cultural and educational contents not only Korean language and Taekwondo classes in more schools and universities.
