'Discovering Korea!'

Korean tourism presentation event

On Tuesday 22 November, the Korean Cultural Institute in collaboration with the association "Angolo dell'Avventura" successfully organized the presentation event of Korean tourism "Discovering Korea".

The association refers to the travel agency "Avventure nel Mondo" which moves around 50,000 travelers every year. Corner of Adventure, which periodically organizes presentation evenings of travel destinations, has proposed through two of its associates who are frequent visitors to the Institute's activities to open an evening on Korea.

The presentation event on Korean tourism was therefore held on Tuesday 22 November at 8.00 pm at the Corner of Adventure headquarters on Lungotevere Testaccio with participation by reservation for 80 people. Also present at the evening were representatives of the Korean airlines Korean Air and Asiana Airlines who set up two promotional desks for their services.

Before starting the evening, the participants were able to enjoy a cocktail based on traditional Korean liqueur and be able to see Hanbok (traditional Korean clothes), reproductions of Bibimbap, traditional writing instruments, photos of famous Korean tourist destinations, etc.

The presentation event began with the greeting of the Director Chun Ye Jin of the Korean Cultural Institute and a representative of the Adventure Corner and immediately followed by a dinner of typical Korean dishes (Kimbap, Bulgoghi, Japce, fried chicken in Korean sauce and Dubu salad). The meeting continued with the stories of travels in Korea by Rachel Sonnino (influencer of Korean Culture on instagram with 44 thousand followers and in activities such as "Korean World) and an associate of the Adventure Corner accompanied by their photos in Korea.

In her greeting, Director Chun spoke of Korea with a charm that is still different from China and Japan, in which tradition and modernity coexist as well as boasting a very rich gastronomic culture, Korea therefore represents a tourist destination of great attraction and is she hopes that more and more Italians will be able to visit Korea in the future.

Mondo Coreano showed its photos in Seoul (Bukchon Hanok Villagem, Seoul Plaza etc...) and in Busan (Haeundae, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple etc...) as well as photos of many Korean delicacies stating that Korea is a suitable tourist destination to all young-elderly and men-women, in the sense of having such a wide offer that it can satisfy all tastes. Furthermore, there was talk of the great quality of services in general and specifically of transport as well as an absolute level of public safety. In short, an ideal tourist destination for anyone and much easier to reach than one might think.

Instead the associate Massimo Polselli always showing his photos in Korea specifically of Seoul, Suwon, Gyeongju etc... he said he was struck and fascinated by the harmonious beauty of Korea where the past and the present coexist, the tradition and the technology. Furthermore, the level of security should be commended as well as obviously the services, also recounting the episode regarding one's wallet mistakenly left unattended in a cafe and remained as it was until the discovery to underline the great civic sense of Koreans. Finally, the Institute, through its own representative, showed a video promoting tourism courtesy of the Korean Tourist Board and a video on all the activities of the Institute itself, which aroused great interest among the audience in the room.

Despite the not entirely favorable weather conditions, more than 90 people were present at the event with all those booked who showed up for the appointment, completely filling all the spaces of the Adventure Corner.

The owner of Avventure nel Mondo Vittorio Kulczycki wanted to thank the Korean Cultural Institute for the beautiful evening organized at the Adventure Corner and was happy to see so many interested people at their facility. Also present was Asiana station manager Kim Hyeoktae who already collaborates with Avventure nel Mondo and considered this event to promote Korea significant. Finally Annalisa Tomei of Korean Air thanked for having offered the opportunity to participate and also said that many people were interested in the routes for a trip to Korea.

Those presented were also pleasantly surprised by the traditional clothes and objects displayed in the room, showing great interest and taking several photos of them. Furthermore, many participants who became aware of the Korean Cultural Institute on this occasion are very interested in all the activities and courses offered during the year, asking to receive more information about them.

In a situation in which it is still not entirely easy to find travel information on Korea in Italy, the Institute is making an effort to ensure that local structures and realities can offer information and products relating to travel to Korea for all interested parties and there is the hope and wish that events like this could be the stimulus to further implement the Italian tourist flow towards Korea.
