2023-24 Open Call for Artists
The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) invites artists worldwide to apply to participate in upcoming exhibitions during the 2023-2024 season. The major goals of the KCCDC exhibition program are to introduce Korean and Korea-inspired art to audiences in the greater Capital region and to enhance artistic cultural exchange between the Republic of Korea and the United States. 🎨Genres
The KCCDC Open Call for Artists accepts a wide variety of art forms, including painting, photography, sculpture, installations, video, new media, and craft. Please be aware that artwork must fit, size-wise, in the KCCDC gallery. See the gallery floor plan and dimensions for reference.
🎨Qualifications
Any individual artist, group, or organization can apply. There are no restrictions based on age or nationality.
* Applicants should understand that although they may apply as a single artist or as part of a group, the KCCDC might invite applicants to exhibit their work as part of a group show, or a larger group show. This determination will be made based on the totality of all applications.
🎨Schedule
- Application Deadline: Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 11:59 pm (EST)
- Review Period: Monday, March 13 – Monday, April 24
- Notification of Results: Tuesday, April 25
* Applicants selected for participation will be contacted directly by the KCCDC.
Application Evaluation Process
A panel of independent judges, including curators and art critics from the DC-Maryland-Virginia area, will review and assess all applications using the following criteria:
- Creativity
- Originality
- Relevance to the KCCDC mission (see the KCCDC website for more information)
* Applications that involve collaboration with other local institutions based on the applicant’s own connections may receive extra points in their evaluation, although this is not a requirement.
🎨Exhibition Season, Venue, & Timeline
Selected applicants will have the opportunity to exhibit their work at the KCCDC located at 2370 Massachusetts Ave. NW Washington, D.C. 20008 during the late 2023 and the early 2024 seasons.
* Precise dates and duration will be determined after the open call in coordination with KCCDC staff. Please be aware that the exhibition season may change due to unforseen circumstances.

- Nominal artist fees
- Artwork shipping expenses
- Insurance of art work
- Optional other related programs (such as an opening reception) on case-by-case basis

Applications should be submitted by Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 11:59 pm (EST).

🎨Required Application Documents
- Current resume for each artist
- Updated portfolios for each artist
- 8-10 images of the artwork (JPEG format files with titles as filenames; for video works, submit a sample of each work)
- List of all artworks including title, date, medium, and dimensions
- Artist statement in relation to images of works being submitted
- Exhibition proposal (*only for group or institution applicants)
