"Decision to Leave" preview
and Korean culture promotion event
The Korean Cultural Centre successfully organized the premiere of Park Chan-wook's film "Decision to Leave" on Wednesday February 1st together with a small event to promote Korea and Korean Culture.
In October 2022, the Institute had already organized a special screening of the film for the first time in Italy with the precious collaboration of Lucky Red. Lucky Red had already distributed Korean films in Italy in the past, recently "Broker" last October and in 2005 the famous "Old Boy" again by director Park Chan-wook.
Before the distribution of the film "Decision to Leave" Lucky Red organized the "Park Chan-Week" from 23 to 30 January with a review of films by Korean director Park Chan-wook in 14 cinemas in 12 Italian cities showing "Mr Vendetta", "Old Boy", "Madmoiselle", "Lady Vendetta", "I'm a Cyborg, but that's ok", "Thirst" and "Stoker".
Furthermore, another special screening of "Decision to Leave" was held at the EUR on 30 January for the participants of the promotional flash mob of the film at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana.
On Wednesday February 1st, the Institute in collaboration with Lucky Red organized the preview of the film at the "Quattro Fontane" cinema with a small event to promote Korea attached. Before watching the film, attendees were able to see photos of the places in Korea (Gangwon, Gyeongsang and Jeolla provinces) that served as the backdrop for the film, take pictures with Irworobongdo and taste Kimbap, a specialty of Korean cuisine.
The event was sold out with 145 people present and all the audience appreciated both the screening and the promotional event. Viewer Carlotta S. said "It was a movie I was looking forward to and I'm happy to have been able to preview it. And it was also nice to try Korean food and see the places in Korea which helped me to immerse myself even more in the movie".
Even Lucky Red was very satisfied with the success of the initiative and hoped to be able to collaborate again in the future with the Korean Cultural Institute.
The Institute will continue its promotion of Korea and Korean culture with the utmost commitment.
