On February 16, 2023, a total of 49 students and professors from the Department of Korean Language at Maha Sarakham University in Thailand visited the Korean Cultural Center.
Maha Sarakham University is located in northeastern Thailand (Isan) and is approximately 6 hours from Bangkok. The students traveled a distance of six hours to experience the webtoon exhibition, the K-Pop exhibition, and various Korean cultures, such as making Kimchi and tasting Korean food.
The students had time to freely explore the webtoon exhibition and the cultural center. Also, they looked nervous about making kimchi for the first time, and they mentioned that everything just felt exciting for them.
Mr. Cho Jae-il, Director of The Korean Cultural Center, warmly welcomed and thanked the students for traveling so far from Maha Sarakham, and he hoped that after experiencing the Korean culture through activities today, all students would be more interested in the Korean language and culture.
Students learned about the ingredients of Kimchi and practiced making it by combining pickled cabbage and seasonings.
While making it, students stated that "it tasted so good and felt so fresh that they could feel Korea's history and culture."
The field trip ended with a tasting of Gimbap, Tteok-bokki, and Busan Eomuk (fish cake) prepared by the KCC.
A photo time was held while having a fun meal, and the students looked around the KCC once again as if they didn't want to leave.
KCC hopes that this experience will be a valuable one and a beautiful memory for Maha Sarakham University students.
