
On Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 7 pm, the Korean Cultural Institute in Italy in collaboration with the Dongduk Women's University inaugurated the art exhibition on Korean Hanji paper high rises "In Life and in the Hanji" by artist Lee Seung Chul.
Through this exhibition it is possible to see the various aspects and forms that Hanji paper can take and in particular of Hanji relief works.

Artist Lee Seung Chul, professor at Dongduk Women's University, shows the essence of Korean aesthetics by incorporating various objects such as bandagi, vases and Buddha statues, which are part of Korean tradition and culture, into the Hanji properties.

For the exhibition inaugurated in Italy, the artist wanted to depict even the aspects more familiar to Italians with the art of the reliefs in Hanji the figures of Christ and the Virgin Mary, expressing the harmony and fusion between religion and culture eastern and western.


About 250 people visited the opening ceremony, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Lee Seong-ho, the Director of the Korean Cultural Institute in Italy Chun Ye Jin, the exhibition organizer Seo Joo Hee and artist Lee Seung Chul opened the exhibition.

Also, on Wednesday February 23, the artist Lee Seung Chul held a seminar on Korean paper and a workshop on making Hanji to 60 students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
