The Korean Cultural Center Sweden held an event called 'Meeting with Baek Hee-na' on March 18 (Saturday). It was a more meaningful time to invite Baek Hee-na, who won the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award(ALMA) in 2020 as the first South Korean author to win the prize, to the Cultural Center, also the first Korean Cultural Center in Northern European countries.
After listening to Magic Candies, read by Baek Heena, the author and audience also talked about the Bath Fairy. During the following Q&A session, the children and adult participants shared how much they enjoyed her books and asked questions to the authors about what they've been curious about from the books.
Baek Heena has won the 2020 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, the world's richest prize for children's literature. Cloud Bread was the first of Baek Heena's picture books to be translated into Swedish. After the award, four more books, The Bath Fairy(2012), Magic Candies(2017), I am a Dog(2019), Joni och grottans hemlighet(2021) have been published in Swedish.
*The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award was created in 2002 by the Swedish government to promote every child's right to great stories.
