"THAT'S KOREA: HANJI" Exhibition Seminar






From Thursday 13 April until Sunday 30 April 2023, the Traditional Korea Hanji 2023 exhibition "THAT'S KOREA: HANJI" opens to the public at the Correr Museum in Venice, where various artistic objects made with traditional Hanji paper are on display.

 

On the occasion of the exhibition, a series of seminars on Hanji paper were organized thanks to the collaboration of the Korean Cultural Institute in Italy.

 

The first seminar program was held on Thursday 13 April, at the Marciana National Library at the Correr Museum in Venice, with the title "This is Korea: Hanji" in which the Jeonju Hanji craftsman Seong-il Choi, the ex director of ICPAL Maria Letizia Sebastiani and the head of the restoration laboratory of works on paper of the Vatican Museums Chiara Fornaciari Da Passano on the theme of excellence and restoration of traditional Hanji.







The second program of seminars was held on Saturday 15th April in the C.AR.M.E. spaces in Brescia with three seminars dedicated to the use of Hanji paper in the contemporary era with the title of "The Modern Application of Traditional Hanji" with the intervention of the professor of Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome Riccardo Ajossa, the director of Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) Teawan Kim and Jeonju Millennium Hanji Museum (KTCC) researcher Miae In.
