Events at KCCs abroad

A K-pop dance team participates in the K-pop Dance & Singing Contest hosted by the Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C.


The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. showcased a day full of Korean cultural events on May 6th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the annual city-wide Around the World Embassy Tour event organized by Passport DC.


The center welcomed a total of 7,900 visitors who enjoyed a range of activities, including traditional Korean music performances, K-pop dance workshops, arts and crafts, and a K-pop singing and dance competition.


Passport DC is a month-long celebration that highlights the diplomatic community and international culture in Washington, D.C.

The day kicked off with traditional Korean performances featuring a 25-string Gayageum (traditional Korean plucked zither), Jindo Drums and a Giwonmu (traditional Korean ritual for rain dance). Later, Amy Kwon led a K-pop dance workshop followed by a K-pop random dance play.

The day culminated in the K-pop dance and singing contest, where 22 soloists and dance teams competed with Korean music covers. Teresa Harris won the vocal category, and Howard University's K-pop dance team 1OAK (One of a Kind) won the performance category. Additionally, visitors were treated to arts and crafts booths, food-tasting booths, and the KCCDC's ongoing exhibitions were especially open on this day for weekend viewing.
