PAINT YOUR OWN KOREAN RICE CAKE

Koreans usually eat rice as their everyday meal with various side dishes. Not only cooked rice, we also eat rice as a porridge, noodles and rice cakes. Rice cakes were especially on a family’s feast table like celebrating birthdays. Join this special workshop to paint your own Korean rice cake. You don’t need any previous experience and the instructor will guide you to paint on the rice cake using bean paste!


TIME & DATE: 5:30pm – 7:00pm, 31 MAY (AEST)

VENUE: Korean Cultural Centre Australia (Ground Floor, 255 Elizabeth St, Sydney)

PROGRAM DETAILS (About 1.5 hrs)

– Enjoy our current exhibition <WONDER: Wordless Picture Books by 7 artists from South Korea> with short guide tour

– Paint Your Own Korean Rice Cake: On top of the cake base using Baekseolgi rice cake, we will express our appreciation of <Pool> by JiHyeon Lee using various colour of the bean paste. The instructor will briefly introduce Korean rice cakes, explain how to make colour with bean paste, organize the design, and practice painting together, and also explain how to store rice cake.

INGREDIENTS

– Rice cake: rice flour, sugar and pumpkin / Bean paste: white kidney bean paste and food colouring

(All of the ingredients will be provided on the spot for free. Please note that we won’t be able to tailor the ingredients to individual’s request as it’s prepared for the group.)

– Due to the nature of the group workshop, only 11 years of age or older can participate.

– The workshop spots are limited for only 12 people. Please confirm your availability by checking date/venue details above before making an application. If you won’t be able to attend any more, please email (food@koreanculture.org.au) us as soon as possible so that the person in the waiting list can join. Failure to notify before 48 hours of the workshop might affect your next application result in the future.
