Events at KCCs abroad

On March 15, the Consulate General hosted the first New York Korean Finance Forum in collaboration with the Korea Investment Corporation’s (KIC) New York office and the Korean Finance Society (KFS). Formerly called the New York International Finance Council, the forum expanded its membership, including KFS and Korean students, and rebranded as the “New York Korean Finance Forum.”

The event brought together 35 attendees, comprising members from the Consulate General, Korean American finance leaders, and representatives of Korean financial firms in New York. Mr. Sander Hau, Managing Director of Charles Bank Capital Partners, shared his Wall Street success stories and discussed the latest trends. The event concluded with a networking session, allowing participants to connect and engage.

Consul General Kim praised the forum for its successful expansion, emphasizing the inclusion of Korean American financial leaders and Korean exchange students in fostering greater exchange and cooperation. He also expressed his hope that Korean financial institutions could act as “civilian economic diplomats” and “global economic salespeople,” promoting the Korean economy and strengthening bilateral financial cooperation amid today’s challenging economic climate caused by complex global crises. At the same time, He also emphasized the importance of identifying and resolving local challenges, broadening the influence of Korean finance in New York, and elevating Korea’s economic standing.

For KFS, Consul General Kim lauded the society for its dedication to providing a dynamic networking platform for Korean American financial professionals and college graduates to find career opportunities. He hoped KFS would continue linking Korean Americans on Wall Street with Korean finance firms in New York to form win-win partnerships.

Consul General Kim reaffirmed his commitment to fostering collaboration in New York by facilitating communication between Korean financial institutions and Korean American leaders in finance while actively supporting efforts to enhance the Korean community’s well-being and influence.
