The Arts Council Korea, the Thai Korean War Veterans Association, and the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand presented the Bangkok premiere of 'The Wedding Day', a Korean opera about a traditional Korean wedding, on June 7th and 8th at 6:30 p.m. A performance is staged by the New Seoul Opera Company.
On the 7th, H.E. Mr. Moon Seoung-hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand, Mr. Itthiphol Khunpluem, Thai Minister of Culture, General Bandit Malaiarisoon, President of the Thai Korean War Veterans Association, and Mr. Cho Jae-il Director of the Korean Cultural Center attended.
The story is about Maeng Jin-sa or Maeng, a greedy man who promises to marry his daughter to Mi-eon, the son of a tycoon family, for his own interest.
However, Mi-eon falls in love with the bride-to-be's servant. To avoid marriage, he spreads the rumor that the tycoon's son is severely disabled. Maeng then comes up with a scheme by dressing up his daughter's servant in the bridal costume and sending her to the wedding instead. What happens then will be discovered in the show.
